HiDef is pleased to confirm the appointment of Martin Scott and Ross McGregor as Associate Directors, strengthening HiDef’s consultancy offering and bringing significant experience to the already growing HiDef team. These appointments follow on from the announcement of the partnership with BioConsult SH in August 2016 and demonstrate HiDef’s expanding skill set and client base in the environmental consultancy sector.
Both Martin and Ross have considerable professional experience, joining HiDef from senior positions at RPS and Natural Power Consultants respectively. Martin’s previous roles have included working for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) as a Conservation Officer based on the Outer Hebrides between 2003 and 2012, as well as having undertaken research and monitoring studies in diverse locations including Syria, Egypt, Canada and the Falkland Islands.
Ross completed his PhD at the University of St. Andrews in 2005 and worked for Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) as their Marine Renewables Ornithologist until 2012. His work overseas has taken in an equally diverse range of countries, which includes the US, New Zealand and a number of sub-Saharan African countries. He has also been a lead ornithological adviser to a number of UK offshore wind developers, with his skill set including population viability analysis (PVA), collision risk modelling (CRM) and Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA).
The significant offshore wind, wet renewables and conservation experience possessed by Martin and Ross complement the skills and capabilities already offered by HiDef’s growing consultancy team and put us in a unique position to provide high-level expert advice, as well as undertake environmental assessment.
Andy Webb, HiDef’s Chief Scientist, welcomed Martin and Ross to the company:
“With two such well-respected and highly experienced expert ornithologists joining the team, HiDef has not only gained significant experience and professionalism, but we have demonstrated our intention to build upon our already excellent reputation and further develop our growing environmental consultancy ability.
Martin and Ross are both very well known throughout the ornithological, renewables and consultancy sectors and we look forward to working with them and our BioConsult SH colleagues on some exciting challenges and projects over the next few years.
We are very pleased that both Martin and Ross have chosen to join us, as we believe that this underlines the growing reputation that HiDef has in both the aerial survey and consultancy sectors.”
