With over 10 years in ecology, Ruth leads on pursuing and developing opportunities to deploy innovative technology for the purposes of ecological monitoring and research (both marine and terrestrial). Her focus is on collaborative solutions; exploring partnerships with external technology providers and international research and development programmes (particularly automated and unmanned data collection methods e.g. UAVs); working with ecologists and innovators within our sister companies, BioConsult SH and Biotope, to develop project ideas and presenting at a number of international conferences.
She is project manager/technical lead for a range of consultancy projects (APM PFQ Qualification), has undertaken EIA/HRA for marine mammals and marine ornithology (incl. the UK’s largest offshore windfarm, Berwick Bank), with experience in data analysis, impact modelling and technical report writing for the offshore wind sector. With an MSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation (Distinction), and a thesis focused on wildlife surveying techniques, she is a field ecologist at her core; continuing to lead boat and land-based seabird surveys and volunteering for conservation organisations, including anti-poaching in the Mediterranean.
