Maria Gädeke

Maria Gädeke

Maria is HiDef’s Australia Program Manager and point of contact for all Australian inquiries.

She has started in 2020 as a project manager in the Digital Aerial Survey department of HiDef’s sister company BioConsult SH and has worked up her way to the deputy of the department within no time. As an all-rounder, Maria has proven to adapt to any kind of professional challenge thanks to her dedicated work ethic and solution-orientated thinking. She has overseen the technical maintenance of the HiDef camera system, managed data handling and processing, report writing, as well as client liaising. She has planned and conducted over a hundred digital aerial surveys in different countries all over Europe.

In May 2023 she was sent over from Germany to our new business location in Melbourne. Thanks to her technical understanding of our bespoke camera system and her strong organizational skills in planning and conducting digital aerial surveys, she will ensure the best possible quality of our services in Australia.

She has an in-depth scientific background in Biology, Psychology, as well as Neurosciences, and is particularly enthusiastic about fieldwork: She is not only a trained task specialist of the HiDef camera system and goes on flights herself. She is also a licensed drone pilot being previously involved in monitoring breeding bird colonies around the North Frisian Islands. Furthermore, she was involved in implementation trials for the Spacewhale method – a satellite-based whale monitoring technique, as well as the AVES project, a camera system that automatically detects and identifies birds on species level to avoid collisions of protected species with wind turbines.

As a nature lover, she is committed to promoting the expansion of sustainable offshore energies while protecting our world’s unique marine wildlife.
