Biotope – Group Innovation Project Manager Position

 

For 30 years, the Biotope Group has been the leading private player in ecological engineering and nature conservation in France. Thanks to its 23 agencies in France and overseas, as well as its 17 French and international subsidiaries and partners including the German company Bioconsult SH and the British company HiDef Aerial Surveying Ltd, the Group brings together, to date, the largest European team of passionate naturalists and ecology experts.
Serving the protection of biodiversity, sustainable development and the dissemination of naturalist knowledge, Biotope Group gathers nearly 800 employees who are committed to taking into account ecological issues in the evolution of our society.
Since their creation, research and innovation (R&I) have been at the heart of the Biotope Group. Within the diversity of R&I projects carried out by the different entities of the Group, some projects are considered to be of interest to the Group either because they result from the implementation of the R&I strategy defined at group level or because they involve different group entities. It is this subset of R&I projects that concerns the activity of the group innovation project manager sought through this offer.

Our team

For practical and operational reasons, the open position is attached to the Diversification and Innovation Department of Biotope SAS (https://www.biotope.fr/), the Group’s parent company. Within this department, you join a team of about ten employees made up of IT developers, data scientists, GIS specialists and business developers. The Diversification and Innovation Department prepares the activity, products and tools of tomorrow. The innovations concern in particular the development of digital or technological tools, dedicated to the monitoring and conservation of biodiversity. The Department is involved in all stages of innovation and research projects, from setting up and developing projects to deploying and maintaining innovations. In this context, the Department’s team interacts with numerous Biotope agencies, services and subsidiaries as well as various external partners. Although the open position is attached to Biotope SAS, the Group innovation project manager will work in close collaboration with the various subsidiaries of Biotope and in particular the partner companies Bioconsult SH (https://www.bioconsult-sh.de/en/) and HiDef Aerial Surveying Ltd (https://www.hidefsurveying.co.uk/). All these companies work together on R&I through a Joint innovation committee (JINCO).

Main missions

Under the responsibility of the Head of the Innovation Department of Biotope SAS, the project manager will facilitate research and innovation activities at group level and will assume in particular the following missions: Support for setting up new research and innovation projects • Search for funding opportunities and definition of a funding strategy • Watch for calls for R&I projects • Drive applications for external funding • Development and facilitation of external partnerships • Representation of the JINCO at external working groups and think tanks on innovation and biodiversity as appropriate Facilitation of R&I activities of group interest • Facilitation of the activities and action plan of the JINCO set up at the Group level • Monitoring and reporting on R&I projects and activities • Support for setting up R&I projects (Business models, Market studies, IPR…)

Profile, knowledge and experience sought

Graduate of a higher education in ecology or equivalent training (PhD welcome), you have a minimum professional experience of 2 years in project management and the animation of multidisciplinary teams. • Successful experience of applying for European and national calls for R&I projects • Very good knowledge of funding possibilities at European and National levels (especially in France, Germany and the United Kingdom) • Experience in setting up and managing innovation or research projects • Skills and experiences in at least three of the following areas: o Specific knowledge in ecology (functioning of ecosystems, management of natural areas, biological cycles of species, etc.)

Professional qualities required

• Strong interpersonal skills, ability to lead meetings and negotiate in English and French
• Dynamism, responsiveness and source of proposals
• Autonomy, rigor and organization
• Appetite for working in partnership
• French and English (level C2 required)

Details of the position to be filled

• Position preferably based in Rinxent (Pas-de-Calais – France) or Brussels (Belgium)
• Starting date: as soon as possible
• Position : full-time permanent contract
• Frequent travel to be expected in France, Germany and the United Kingdom
• Remuneration: according to profile and experience (fixed rate + meal vouchers + health insurance 100% covered + profitsharing,
holiday bonus, participation in transport costs)
