HiDef provides expert advice and supports clients across all types of environmental consulting with a team comprising some of the most experienced ornithologist, marine mammal scientists and wildlife biologists working in the UK today. Many of the guidelines and methods used in today’s bird surveys and analyses have been derived from work undertaken by HiDef staff, so we know what we are talking about!
We have the technical ability and experience to undertake all elements of survey work, EIA and HRA assessments, and to provide clients with clear reports and robust impact assessments. The ability to provide effective representation from staff who understand the complex world of ornithology and marine mammal science from the context of both the developer and the regulator puts HiDef at the fore.
Our team provides expert advice to all clients and advises renewable energy developers, Government departments and non-governmental organisations on some of the UK, Europe, and Australia’s largest infrastructure projects. The unique mix of our team, drawn from development, consultancy and regulatory backgrounds provides the perfect combination to deliver the right advice.
HiDef also undertakes peer review of ecological methods, analysis and reports provided to our clients by other consultancies. Peer review provides a common-sense check of risks to the project. Often the technical and legal jargon can be confusing and mask a clearly structured argument lying therein. A fresh pair of technical eyes can often assist in teasing out the key points of an argument and provide reassurance that the process is being followed in the correct manner.
Overall, the benefit to the client is a reduction in risk and peace of mind knowing additional support is behind their project. Our approach to peer review is to provide positive feedback, not only recognising where work has been undertaken well, but providing suggestions for improvements, not criticism alone. Thus, a HiDef peer review, can also provide support to an existing EIA/HRA production and legal review team and can be integrated in to that team where necessary.
We look forward to discussing your project requirements.
