HiDef are proud to share our involvement providing aerial surveys to collect digital wildlife data for our client Ossian Offshore Wind. SSE Renewables Limited, Marubeni Corporation, and Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners are combining their experience and extensive global expertise in the development of the site, under the banner of Ossian. With a potential capacity of up to 3.6GW, Ossian will become one of the world’s largest floating offshore wind farms.
This two-year aerial survey project has documented the habits of over 75,000 animals and bird to assist the compiling of planning paperwork for the consent process.
The survey area in the North Sea off the east coast of Scotland covers 11,500 km and includes the E1 and E2 Scotwind zones plus buffer. The scale of the survey area was designed and completed by HiDef, utilising multiple aircraft simultaneously to gain an accurate snapshot of the site.
Managing Director Martin Scott said “We love a challenge at HiDef, and this was a tough one to plan, but we have successfully delivered the project, providing quality data in relation to seabirds and marine mammals”
